This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Derek Hebert who was born in Louisiana on September 08, 1984 and passed away on May 07, 2005 at the age of 20 in a tragic boating accident. Derek was full of life. He loved his family, his friends, and Lynyrd Skynyrd more than words could express. He was compassionate, loving, enthusiastic, funny, handsome, intelligent, talented...this list could go on for days. There is a hole in our hearts and a void in our life since we lost Derek. Someone once told me, "Losing someone is like having a wound that scabs over from time to time, and just when you think it has healed, the scab peels and you bleed again. " We take one day at a time and believe that one day we will get to see Derek again. Please feel free to light a candle or pay tribute to Derek.
POEM FOR DEREK
He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood. For nothing now can ever come to any good.
